Somatus, the leader in value-based kidney care, is looking for a mission-driven accounting leader who is excited to lend their talents to help shape our story and message across key stakeholder groups – health plans, providers, and most importantly, patients. The Sr Payroll Accountant Analyst will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all compensation and employee benefit journal entries, reconciliation of related accounts, payroll data analyst and documentation of accounting procedures related to compensation and benefits. Successful candidates will support process improvement initiatives within payroll and assist with the general ledger coding into NetSuite. The Sr Payroll Accountant Analyst will also work directly with various managers across the company to answer enquiries related to payroll data.
Responsibilities
- Review and re-organize large payroll or payroll related datasets to the format of journal entry using Power Query, Power BI, alteryx to automate the process
- Maintain payroll costs/allocations by department, state, line of business etc. and work with other groups to ensure that payroll data is updated regularly
- Provide monthly payroll change analysis
- Reconcile different data sources related to payroll and benefits (such as ER/EE payroll taxes, HSA, FSA, 401K, health insurance, etc.)
- Manage payroll accruals, PTO accruals, and other accruals related to payroll such as bonus, severance, and update general ledger
- Analyze payroll data and provide labor/hour or other payroll related reports to Departments
- Maintain Earning/Deduction codes mapping with general ledger
- Assist with payroll tax registration, and payroll process and reconciliation as needed
- Participate in payroll/benefits audits
- Maintain and update SOP/P&Ps that capture how to complete tasks related to area of responsibility
- Identify areas for automation, leverage technology, and bring innovative ideas and approaches to existing processes

Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
Minimum 3+ years of experience in payroll, data analytics.
Previous experience as a data analyst or in a similar role
Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, Power BI
Great computational ability
Attention to detail
Ability to adapt and work as a team player in a fast- growing environment
Support process improvement initiatives.
Assists in responding to the internal/annual audit requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public company experience
- Knowledge of health care industry
