About Us
Pom Health is your doctor-prescribed food companion. We partner with PCPs, cardiologists, endocrinologists, and nephrologists to bring nutrition care in-house.
The country needs nutrition care now more than ever. Heart disease is still the number one cause of death, yet most cardiologists have no in-house nutrition support. Tens of millions of Americans are on GLP-1s, but the lifestyle support they need to sustain results barely exists. The demand is obvious. The infrastructure isn’t there. We’re building it.
We partner with doctors’ offices across America — trusted clinicians in their communities — and give them the tools to do what they’ve always wanted to do: help their patients eat better and live healthier. We also generate revenue for the practice — a new service line that helps the doctors we work with run a sustainable business while delivering better care.
Our care model pairs registered dietitian counseling with AI-powered conversational support that’s there with patients in the moments that matter — whether it’s 2am and they’re craving sweets or they’re standing in line at Chick-fil-A trying to figure out what to order. We help patients turn their doctor’s guidance into a daily practice that fits their actual life.
We’re a team of 5 with patients and customers who love us, growing revenue, and clinically significant outcomes. Now we’re hiring the people who will build and scale it. Join us!
What Makes This Role Different
We need a second founding engineer to build across every surface of our product — from what patients interact with daily, to what sits alongside a doctor’s EHR, to what helps a practice admin manage their panel.
There has never been a more exciting time to build at the intersection of healthcare and food. We can understand a patient’s preferences, dietary restrictions, and cultural background with real precision — then connect them to the right recipe video, the right meal prep technique, the right ingredient swap, at exactly the right moment. Imagine a patient who loves Dominican cooking and just got diagnosed with pre-diabetes. We can surface a TikTok showing how to make a lower-glycemic mangú, recommend it at breakfast time, and follow up with their dietitian if they tried it. The tools to make nutrition care personal, joyful, and effective are finally here. We’re building them.
This isn’t “join a startup and build one feature.” The surface area is enormous and the stakeholders are wildly different:
For patients: You’re building the tools that keep someone engaged in changing how they eat — personalized feedback, intelligent nudges, AI-driven check-ins. A patient texts at 10pm saying they’re craving something sweet after a stressful day. The system needs to know their triggers, what’s worked before, what’s in their fridge, and their communication style. We’re connecting what happens during live visits to asynchronous care and the surrounding care intelligence.. That’s one of many problems in this category.
For clinicians: You’re building tools that sit alongside existing EHRs — a copilot for our RDs during visits, data-pulling workflows that grab patient context from any EHR system, surfaces that make our dietitians dramatically more effective without changing how their clinic operates.
You’ll flex between building consumer-grade behavior change products and building B2B tools that live inside legacy healthcare infrastructure. You need to be excited about what’s possible with AI while staying grounded in the realities of HIPAA and systems that were built in the 90s.
You Might Be a Fit If
You have 3-5+ years of engineering experience in high growth healthcare or wellness companies; special consideration for those hungry new grads who want to jump in
You’ve built production systems before and are comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end
You’re energized by talking directly to users (RDs, doctors, patients, practice admins) to understand what they actually need. No PMs translating requirements — you’re forward-deployed
You’re comfortable with ambiguity and building 0→1. The architecture isn’t defined. Many of the products don’t exist yet. That excites you
You care about the craft but ship fast. Done and learning beats perfect and theoretical
You're comfortable building in a regulated environment — HIPAA, PHI, audit trails. You take the constraints seriously and don't treat compliance as someone else's problem
You're using AI to build thoughtfully but quickly — you have opinions about when to reach for an LLM and when not to, and you're shipping with these tools today, not just experimenting
You're not scared by the messiness of healthcare and excited to tap into the world of food - you're excited to build products on top of data we receive from visits, messages, clinical notes, delivery apps, and… the grocery store!
You want to work on something where you can see the impact on real people’s health
This Role Isn’t for You If
You want a well-scoped ticket queue and clear sprint plans — you’ll be helping define what gets built
You prefer deep specialization over breadth — this role touches frontend, backend, infra, data, and AI
You need a large engineering team around you for code review and mentorship on day one
You’d rather architect a system for months than ship something and iterate
About Us
Pom is a small team that moves fast, cares deeply, and holds a high bar. These are the principles we operate by:
Progress, not perfection. We move fast, test ideas, and iterate. We’d rather learn something tomorrow than plan something perfect next month.
Own your outcomes. We don’t wait to be told what to do. If you see a problem, you fix it. If you see an opportunity, you chase it.
Decide with data, act with heart. We’re rigorous about metrics and relentless about patient care. Both matter, always.
Good ideas come from everywhere. We’re a flat team. The best argument wins, regardless of who makes it.
Insert joy in the unexpected. Even in the hard stuff. Especially in the hard stuff.
The full-time team today: Misha (CEO, ex-Palantir Healthcare), Sarah (Patient Outcomes & Ops), Lindsay (Clinical Ops & Dietitian), Josephine (Clinical Experience & Dietitian), Rohil (Founding Engineer), and a team of part-time dietitians. We’ve built an integrated stack ourselves, have hundreds of active patients, an in-house clinical team using the software every day, and the ability to ship changes into real care workflows within hours.
If you want to join a team where your work directly improves how patients eat, live, and recover — and where you’ll have real ownership over the outcome — we’d love to talk!
